Written during a spell of the lockdown blues, 'Cocoon' describes my own struggle with mental health when grief, worry and inertia seem to be the dominating forces in the world.

Depression can feel both comfortable in its familiarity, yet cold in its callousness...

But, it is just a phase, and if you are willing to undergo each 'emotional chrysalis' you will find yourself emerging transformed on the other side - stronger and richer in your wisdom than before.

Oh, comfortable cocoon
Old familiar, can’t break out of you
Dark, Gloomy old cocoon
I keep wishing I’ll be better soon


I woke up early this morning
And even made my bed
I tried my very best to
Not get stuck in my head
Ambitiously wrote so many things
On my to-do list
But you had different plans for me


Like a dragon with a sore tooth
I go underground to be alone
Retreat to the woods to lick my wounds
I prefer to heal things on my own

But then when I decide to
reach out to some friends
You somehow always convince me
to rather not bother them
Well why’s your commentary always

When I say I’m fine, you say I’m Doomed

How the hell did I end up
inside of you?
